• Ensure that you understand the description of contents provided by the shipper. If unsure about the nature of the cargo, call the shipper for verification. 
• Check that the description is not a known Dangerous Goods commodity          
  
  
• Explosive (ammunitions, flares)
• Flammable liquids (fuels, flavourings, essential oils, printing ink
• Gases, Toxic, Flammable, Corrosive (aerosols, gas cylinders etc)
• Flammable solids (matches)
• Oxidising Substances (peroxides, fertilisers)
• Toxic Substances (agricultural  products such as pesticides)
• Infections Substances (medical shipments, diagnostic samples)
• Radioactive Substances
• Corrosive Substances (acids, cleaning products, batteries)
• Magnetised materials (audio speakers), Internal Combustion engines (motor vehicles, generators etc), Life Rafts, Lithium Batteries
• Check any commodity showing a chemical name.  Refer to the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.  If you are unsure, check with someone who knows.

• Verify the appearance of the cargo with the warehouse staff or driver prior to lodgment. Any cargo exhibiting hazard labels or UN/ID numbers should be delivered to the warehouse for further investigation prior to export.

YES ß  

• Confirm that the shipper understands their responsibilities under the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. A shipper must provide 2 original copies of the completed IATA Dangerous Goods Declaration and offer the goods for transport packaged and labelled according to the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.  
  
• If the shipper is unfamiliar with the export of dangerous goods:
  
• Recommend the completion of a Dangerous Goods Acceptance Course
• Advise the shipper that there are specialist dangerous goods companies that are authorised to complete the documentation, packaging and labelling requirements on behalf of shippers.

Shipper Signed DG Declaration

• Request a fax copy of the DG Declaration prior to Pick Up
• Complete sections 1 to 28 of the DG Check list to ensure the Declaration is acceptable
• Arrange for cargo to be delivered to EMO Trans warehouse
• Cut the MAWB/HAWB and complete sections 29 & 30 of the check sheet
• Go to the warehouse and complete sections 31 to 55 of the check sheet
• Sign and date the check sheet (keep a copy in the job file)<

• If you answer NO to any question on the CHECK SHEET, the shipment MUST be HELD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE and shipper advised of the discrepancy.

External - DG Specialist Signed DG Declaration

• Deliver goods to DG Specialist (Dangerous Goods Management or Dangerous Goods Compliance)
• Obtain a copy of the DG Declaration
• Complete a DG Check on both Documents and Cargo prior to lodgement or at the airport terminal
• Sign and date the check sheet (keep a copy in the file)
